Mods I could use a quick answer so could this be left for exposure. Pretty please
I've been offered the chance to buy the following second hand stuff for £250
"the subs are sony xplod 12''. 900w each
both mounted in a twin box."
"the amp is an alpine V12.
really kicks the subs well."
I don't know much about subs and stuff but is that a good price, is that good equipment. Are there any second hand market pitfalls with such equipment. What would you do?

Bearing in mind I'm subless at the moment, what would happen if I got the lot and fired it all in the boot. Would I get some nice base (don't want it too rude boyish though)?

leave it. There are better systems for sale here on scoobynet.
Will try to paste some for you later.
Stick your nose into the ICE section.
Click
This is a much better buy.

Yep, agree with Luke... Xplod not that great, although amp should be ok. Hunt around for better bargains...
RF stuff (see link above) sounds great, but I'm having problems with them at the moment as they're ignoring a warranty problem after my amp mysteriously went phut two weeks ago .

Those subs are only £75 each brand new including a box from cel-direct. And depending on the model, £100 for a used Alpine amp is either OK or rather expensive. If it was £150 for the lot I'd say go for it, but at £250 you could do *much* better.

I've been talking to the guy some more today and might be able to get the lot for £150. Surely its a good set up for a total ice novice at that money. Any thoughts at this new price?

Can you afford the Rockford????? make the guy an offer and buy it .. Then you can forget the Bass for a long time and spend on better front speakers etc
You have a great chance of getting it right first time.

Kenny,
Why do you want it? "Because it's a bargain"? You can, without doubt, do better for 150 quid.
What box is it? Is it designed for an impreza? Have you heard it? Do you like it?
If you've heard it and like it, buy it. Otherwise, work out what you want from a sub system and take it from there
Cheers,
Nick

I've already uprated the head unit and speakers. All I want is some extra base and by the looks of the size and power of the subs and amp I could get that with the gain turned right down and go for some good old BOOM BOOM by cranking it up if it ever took my fancy. I really don't know much about ice but my mate has a crappy 10" sub in a crappy box in the back of his astra and it sounds not bad
Here is a picture of the stuff http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...9061&members=1

the sony subs are cheap to buy, around 40 a piece, the alpine amp v 12 are the best around, depending on which model and power you have, overall its worth 150, but the rockford fosgate off sounds very very good too! OR buy a sub and amp deal from www.newimagecarhifi.com
good luck mate!
