on line ice shopping
#1
Has anyone had any good or bad experience with on line shopping? What do people think of unauthorised outlets? Basically I'm going to buy the Alpine 7998 and making sure I won't get stung if it needs to be returned/repaired.
Any thoughts or good sites people know of (preferably cheap), have looked at letsbuycaraudio.com and mcs direct so far.
Cheers Si

People have used MCS direct, certainly. I'd try to go for an authorised reseller otherwise you could have another stage of middlemen in the case of a warranty return/repair. Ask up front. If they don't respond to your email, then that tells you something.

letsbuycaraudio.com has a statement on their homepage that they are authorised dealers for all products they sell. And very cheap, too. Kellcoo also has links to this site in their car audio section. Max Power credited, to.
Gentlemen, we may have a winner - I guess the proof is when you need to send something back...

Absolutely - in my experience, the way things get sorted on returns is the real measure of a company. Anyone can sell cheap, but they've got to back up what they're doing.

yeah, cad is pretty good - order some magnats there a while ago, but took a few weeks arrive, didn't tell me they were out of stock untill ichased it up. Not bad, nonetheless, but a bit more expensive than others.

Has anyone had anything fitted by MCS direct at all?
They have a UK fitting service that looks quite reasonable...
Thanks for any tips

I brought from MCS and unfortunately had to use the "return" test. Not the best, I think I had to make 3 phone calls and it took a bit longer to get my money back than I'd hoped (and because I didn't return it within 7 days or something I got charged £25). But they were always quite helpful via email and on the phone once you got talking to the right person. Considering how cheap their prices are I didn't think their service was that bad.

These guys have good prices over the net but are not just a warehouse and a modem - proper shop/display centre in Leicester - very impressive IMHO and also friendly/knowledgable. Recommended from personal experience (about a year ago though!)
