Anyone used one of these before?

It's an Alpine NVE-K200, used to add AUX inputs into an Alpine Ai-Net Headunit.
Here's a diagram to show what it does.
At the moment, I have a 3m Ai-Net cable that connects my exitsing changer to the Headunit. What I need to know is where this little thing goes?
Do I plug my existing 3m cable into the device (and stick it in the boot), then buy a smaller cable to connect the changer to the other input on the device?

Cheers David, as helpfull as ever
Just bought myself one of those Dension MP3 players from Lee. I want to install the unit in the boot, so looks like I'll need an extra 1m Ai-net cable to connect it to the NVE-K200 box.
Thanks again,
Stefan

Yup - I've just used one of these to connect my MStation to my TV-head unit. Damned funky bits of kit!
3 connections - two AI-NET and one pink wire.
AINet connection I goes to the CD-changer
AINet connection II goes to the head unit (or, in my case, the EQ processor)
Pink wire connects to the audio-interrupt in line on your head unit. The Y-lead part of the pink wire is your trigger. When you want to listen to whatever you're connecting to the RCA inputs on the NVE-200, you must EARTH this pink wire. That will shut off the CD changer and/or pause the tape deck.
Dead funky - you know you want one

Well I *thought* that too, but all the pics I've seen don't show a cable as being supplied.
A 1m Ai-Net cable is half the price of the unit

Globbits,
Did you install yours in the boot or did it have to be near the Headunit?
Did you get a Ai-Net cable supplied or did you have to buy an additional one?

Because I've got an IVA-M700R (Minidisc TV head unit) I've got a processor in the boot of the car anyway (along with loads of other hardware So, the MStation, NVE-K200 and processor unit all are in the boot.
Yes, it did come with a 0.5m AI-Net lead - complete bonus! But, since the AI-Net leads are completely interchangeable, there's no reason why you can't use a short/long one to put the unit where you want. After all, as long as you can get a signal to/from your extra unit, 'snot a problem

Cheers Globbits,
Another question. Did you need to run a cable for the Audio-Interrupt from your HU to the boot or is the one on the unit long enough (3m)?

Nah - the TV-head units basically have a multicore cable going from the processor to the head unit. All the intelligence is in the processor - the head unit is just the screen, motors, and a few buttons. So, I've just got a short lead in the boot (along with the 5,000 other cables! )
Just got the front speaker builds to do now, then I can start covering everything!

Yeah, that's true.
Might be easier running a single thin cable down the centre console than a couple more RCA's. Together with the 2 fronts, that'll be 4 in total.
Hmm, decisions

RCAs are cheaper.
I dunno if the Alpine bus uses a balanced signal. If it does, it's less likely to pick up interferance. Saying that, my MP3 player is in the boot and the RCA inputs are under the passenger seat and I don't get any troubles.

OK, I'm sort of getting the hang of all the wiring.
Here's some diagrams of the two options (sad I know, but it helps). The top one has the K200 thingy mounted next to the headunit somewhere.
The bottom one has it mounted in the boot with the rest of the kit.
I plan on runnning the power cables (red) down the passenger side of the car and the other cables, AI-net (Navy), 4xRCA's (cyan) and the RJ11 sat control for the Dension (Green) down the middle of the car.

To much spare time at work more like
And to brighten up a dull Friday, my Dension MP3 players just arrived. Is it Xmas already?
I'll have a go at the install over the weekend and if it all goes well, I'll post pics and instructions.
