Hi All

I recently splashed out on a Sony CDX MP70 (the silver unit), the only thing I have having bother with is I get 1 second gaps between tracks on 'mix' cd's eg 'ministry of sound' and 'cream' type albums when recorded as MP3.

A mate of mine has a pioneer type mp3 unit and he has the same problem, only his gaps are around 5 seconds.

Anyone any ideas??

I haven't bought an MP3 player for exactly the same reason, 90% of my CD's are mixed, as most of my mates are "Superstar" DJ's

Does anyone know of an mp3 head unit that doesnt leave a gap?

I think it's because they have to load the track data before each one

Not come across an MP3 player that manages the gaps properly. The closest I've come to it is my version 2 MStation. The gap is down to about .25 - 0.5secs, on 128bit or 192bit MP3's. Almost unnoticeable.

Your other option would be to record the CD as one big MP3. Let's face it - for mix albums, the individual track title isn't really important, so it does work well. I've recorded some of my Cream albums that way (using AudioCatalyst) and it's been perfect. Well worth a go.....

sounds like i will have to live with the gaps then, or burn the entire cd as 1 track.

Thanks for the info

think i know what the problem is - i dj and mix demo cds. if i want to copy them in volume i use a pc rather than a hifi cdr as it can copy at 10 speed. the first few i did all had gaps between tracks when copied on pc, but there was a setting on the software that i was using that allowed the disc to be copied at one but still put in track marks. it is called either disc at once or entire disc setting or something like that. worked for me no reason why shouldnt work with MP3 cds. dont know if this helps?

Pretty sure that if you want track numbers/id's then you will always have gaps (varies from .5 to 5 sec dependant on unit), burn it as one single mp3 is best bet.

You should be making the most of Shoutcast if you have a broadband connection. All internet radio stationswill be required to pay licence/royalty fees shortly and that will be the end of it

There have been so many top class live-sets and ripped cd's being played over the last few months that I had to buy another hardrive, my mp3 collection is over 38gigs now

2 days worth of dl's, done whilst at work/sleep

www.shoutcast.com look under trance/techno section
