Default Engine Bay & Alternator Bolts

Following on from the success of this over on the P1WOC and the Welsh region of ScoobyNet, I have decided to post this up in the General GB section to see if there is any interest.

P1WOC thread : http://www.p1woc.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26383

ScoobyNet Welsh Region thread : https://www.scoobynet.com/wales-26/8...group-buy.html

The kits are based around everything I used when I did my engine bay (P1) so are directly suited to v5/6 classics, although the vast majority of these bolts - if not all - would be suited to any other classic. I suspect the majority of the bolts are also suitable for newage cars as well.

Kits consist of 87 stainless steel hex flanged bolts for the engine bay (OEM style bolts but stainless) and 8 stainless steel cap end bolts for the alternator. The 4 long bolts around the outer casings of the alternator are made in custom runs from blanks due to the obscure size.

Applications are:

The kits consist of:-

Inlet Manifold
Intercooler brackets and ancilaries
Throttle Body
Coil pack mounting
HT lead brackets etc.

Bonnet etc.
Radiator Top Brackets
Radiator Cowl top
Radiator top cover
Bonnet catch (on bonnet)
Bonnet catch to cross member
Power steering to cross member
Air intake cover to cross member

Engine/Auxilleries
Air con belt cover
Pulley covers
Dump valve
Coolant tank to intercooler
Turbo inlet pipe to inlet manifold
Water bottle
Fuse box cover
Dipstick
Power steering reservoir top
Header tank top
Brake pipe support brackets
Earth mounts - RHS
Cam belt cover RHS
Cam belt cover LHS
Intercooler
Inner wing brackets
Boost solenoid bracket
Battery earth to chassis point
Windscreen wiper motor
Alarm to bracket
Air con (rear RHS)
Air con bracket (rear RHS)
Vent hose brackets to rear bulkhead

Alternator
Outer casings bolts
Bearing retaining plate

I bag and label all 95 bolts per specific application (about 40 individual bags in total) for ease of installation. Some pics of my alternator after a refurb and the new bolts, and a pic of some of the smaller bolts loose to give you an idea:

The group buy runs in groups of 10 at a time. The first group on (ScoobyNet) was completed and sent out recorded First Class last week, and there are already names (and payments received) on the second group of 10.

Prices including First Class Recorded delivery are £40 for the engine bay bolt kit and £45 for the full kit including the alternator bolts.

Second group so far:

11. Blue Dragoon - full kit PAID
12. joe joe88 - full kit PAID
13. JeffSTI2 - full kit PAID
14. scoobyschef - full kit PAID

15. Rice Rocket - full kit (Confirmed - sending payment)
16.
17.
18.
19.
20.

Any questions please ask on the thread or feel free to pm me

Thanks,

James

From your previous GB how many guys bought a set that had Newage cars? Did the majority of the bolts fit? I imagine they will but just want to be sure.

Send me a pm if you want,

Jason

I'd be interested in finding out the answer to this too - if I don't need to get too many more I could well be interested

Afternoon fellas,

As far as I understand, all of the kits went to classic owners. I couldn't tell you with any degree of certainty whether they would all fit a newage car as I've had very little experience of them. Rice Rocket has confirmed he is taking a kit from this second group though - he must be confident that the vast majority will fit?

If there is somebody with more experience who could say for certain either way it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers Mr. P1, I too am sure the majority will fit but don't really want to be left over with say 10 spares and 10 rusty/ non shiney bolts in th engine bay. Should/can i put my name on the list depending on how Rice Rocket gets on?

Totally understandable, not a problem at all Jason. I would advise you put your name on the list for the 3rd group when it goes up, as RR will be getting his kit from this (2nd) group.

I will be speaking to RR for some feedback - the outcome of which may well be two tailored kits, one for classic (as above) and one for newage if needs be.

That's exactly how these kits came about!

I bought a carbon slam panel and thought it would be nice to put it on with some new shiny bolts rather than the rusted ones which I'd taken off. Once they were on the car it was a very slippery slope from then onwards

Hi,

just to let you all know, i'll be using the kit for my newage, but it won't be for a while do to other projects on the scoob being doe first. I'm not to fussed if they don't all fit, as i'm sure they will be of use at some point!

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, need to get a roof vent fitted and respray sorted first, but when I do my grounding kit and new inlet it would be good to have some nice shiny bolts to fit at the same time.

I would've thought so fella - certainly the vast majority anyway. I can't think of any applications which are model specific, possibly the couple which secure the v5/6 dump valve to the intercooler but very little else....

The GB can run continually really. Once a group of 10 is reached, these kits will be processed and then a new list can be started.
