Default DBA Brake Discs By Clark Motorsport

We at Clark Motorsport are the sole UK dealer for DBA brake discs and would like to offer DBA brake discs for the Subaru Impreza at discounts of up to 20%!!!

Our main line of business deals with rally cars and their owners who spend a fortune on brand name brake kits only to warp the discs time and time again. The majority of owners we supply DBA discs to comment on how much more punishment they can take compared to brand name kits and that they can run them for more of the season before needing replaced. A proper testament to the discs performance!

DBA 4000 Series

DBA’s mid-series enhanced performance rotor features Thermal Stability Profiling for improved heat handling and Thermo-Graphic paint markings for effective heat monitoring.

4000 series rotors also incorporate the innovative Kangaroo Paw ventilation design, which runs cooler, stronger and outperforms traditional straight vane disc rotors by up to 20%

Designed for the performance street and motorsport enthusiast.

Kangaroo Paw Ventilation

DBA’s Kangaroo Paw delivers significantly improved braking performance under all conditions to make you safer than ever before.

The innovative Kangaroo Paw design runs cooler, is stronger, and out performs traditional straight vane disc brake rotors.

So what makes it work so well? To answer this, let’s look at a car’s braking system. This system is critical in terms of vehicle safety and performance. Being able to stop reliably, time after time, under heavy braking conditions can mean life or death.

Every time the brakes are used massive pressure is built up through the braking system. The force your foot applies at the brake pedal is multiplied many times at the disc rotors, creating friction and extreme heat.

The extreme heat can cause disc rotors to warp, distort and in some cases fail. Traditionally, heat is removed as air flows through the rotor passing between straight ‘cooling vanes’. However, the straight vane design does not provide the ideal conditions for heat to be dissipated and tends to allow an unwanted ballooning effect.

Kangaroo Paw disc rotors will quickly remove the heat, cool the discs, and return to optimal operating temperatures ready for the next braking application – without this ballooning.

The Kangaroo Paw features 144 precisely positioned diamond and tear-drop pillars. The pillars create greater strength, reliability, and a more efficient cooling system. Greater surface area means more rapid heat dissipation.

Cool air flows in from the centre of the disc, while hot air is forced to the outside of the disc - regardless of rotational direction. The pillars provide greater strength across the disc rotor and reduce the tendency for disc distortion.

More efficient cooling improves brake pad and disc rotor life, and helps reduce brake fade.

That’s why the Kangaroo Paw system is so effective.

Available across a range of products for most popular vehicles, it’s the greatest advance in brake rotor design for decades – guaranteed!

Thermo Stability Profiling

The thermo graphic heat paint used in DBA 4000 and DBA 5000 series disc rotors has been developed to measure the actual bulk temperature of the disc when operating at the most extreme condition.

This peak condition is reached when the vehicle is in full motion with the brakes engaged. To enable an accurate measurement to be recorded, it is essential that the heat monitoring paint makes a permanent change at this critical point in braking.

If the paint were to return to its original colour as it cooled you would not achieve a true indication of the peak temperature as the disc can reduce in temperature by more than one hundred degrees Celsius before you have time to stop and check the reading.

The three paint stripes on these DBA performance rotors are;

Green 458˚C (856˚F) Changes to white
Orange 550˚C (1022˚F) Changes to yellow
Red 630˚C (1166˚F) Changes to white

In order for this colour change to occur, the disc rotor mass must reach the relevant bulk temperature for 10 minutes. This ensures that the colour change does occur from the much higher surface temperatures which do not penetrate through the disc material and affect its mechanical properties.

The ideal temperature condition for high performance brake pads and rotors is between 450˚C and 550˚C which is when the peak friction condition is achieved. This can be verified when the Green paint changes to white and the Orange paint has not changed or minimal change occurs on the outer edges.

If your driving conditions force the Orange paint to change to yellow then you should consider more a specialised high temperature pad compound, review the car setup or alter your driving style. When exposed to temperatures in excess of 630˚C (Red paint) permanent fatigue and stress concentration is greatly accelerated which may result in premature cracking or warping of the disc rotor. DBA does not warrant disc rotors that have been subjected to motor sport use.

Bulk Temperature is the temperature achieved through the full thickness of the material rather than surface temperatures that may be much higher but have less effect on the mechanical properties of the rotor material.

Well spotted!! Edited to show the "Pricing" part.

Please can you check you application and price using the link provided just to make sure you get the correct discs. Clark Motorsport mainly deals with Evo's and the application range for them is the same from the Evo 4-9 front and rear. Impreza's however are a bit of a nightmare so I put the link up so you can check and make sure you get the right disc.

Thanks!

Weird. Only the DBA Europe site has prices on it.

There are two sections under the "Product Catalogue" section. One where you can download the .pdf version which has no prices, only application listing and the other is the "Online Catalogue" with the prices.

Just checked and it works fine for me but have another look and let me know if you have still cant see the prices.

Thanks!

So when it says:

4000 Series 6x6 Wiper-Slot Left-Hand, this is only for the left side of the car I presume for £178.25

so I'd also need:
4000 Series 6x6 Wiper-Slot Right-Hand, for £178.25 as well?

Then apply the discount?

Yes, the prices on the DBA site show the left and right hand disc seperate since they are directional.

£178.25 + £178.25 - discount % + delivery.

Correct

As I mentioned above although we do deal with Subarus it's mainly rally cars which do not run parts anywhere near the stock items.

The reason for me posting the link to the site and catalogue is that I do not want to provide someone with the incorrect part or price for them only to be let down in the future. I would not want someone to receive the incorrect part or be told that the price has changed.

I am happy to help someone out if they want but I dont know the terms used for certain Imprezas so you would have to give me as much info as possible i.e year, UK or JDM, disc size or even handbrake size as mentioned above depending on what Impreza you own.

Thanks!

No interest?

This offer wont be repeated anytime this year as DBA products are never reduced from the retail price.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thank for the additional info. This was needed as Subaru list two different types of disc in those sizes.

Price is for 4000 series per disc and grooved which we recommend over dilled and grooved.

Front - RRP

Grooved disc - £135.00 + vat

Rear 4000 series per disc
Part no. 4656 (190mm h/brake) R180 setup

Grooved Disc - £155.00 + vat

So, take the appropriate discount structure (currently 10%) from the price before the vat and that's what we can offer them for.

Thanks,

David

I'd be very interested:
53 plate blob eye WRX- i can't get on your website at work as the internet filters claim its an "entertainment" website so i can't see what you have available.
When I get home this evening i'll be able to narrow my choices down

cheers

I'd be interested in a pair of front 294mm Grooved 4000 Series. Can you also give me a price for 5000 series if you have them.

Thanks
