Question Blackjax

5cby
For those of us who don't know, what exactly does this do, and how does it work?
Does this replace our whole security on our cars, or is this in addition to my cat 1 alarm and imobiliser?

Cheers Kevin.

Also potentially interested. Does that £125 include fitting nationwide, or just at their place?

Would like more info too. Can't find it on their website.

It'll work happily with the Sigma (and should work with the Laserline), I had both on my first Impreza.

Blackjax
Carjacking Response & Vehicle Recovery System
BlackJax is Clifford's unique anti-carjacking response system that puts personal safety first while using innovative advancements to ensure that users can recover the vehicle themselves. If an armed car thief approaches – whether at a stoplight or in a parking lot (where most carjackings occur) – immediately turn over the keys and remote and let Clifford technology take over.

BlackJax is fully automatic: no buttons or transmitters to push when a gun is involved. Just get away from the vehicle. BlackJax allows the criminal to drive away a safe distance. Then, a few seconds later, BlackJax blares the siren and flashes the lights to alert other drivers and witnesses. It then pulses down the ignition system to safely force the vehicle to slow to a complete stop. Siren blaring and lights flashing, unable to restart the engine, the carjacker has no choice but to abandon the vehicle.

BlackJax offers immediate vehicle self-recovery. With the vehicle immobilized a short distance away, the owner can recover it. No special tracking units, monthly fees or per-use charges. Just follow the sound of the BlackJax siren, then enter the PIN code. That's it – it's sabotage-proof. The only way to turn off BlackJax is with a secret user-selectable PIN code. If the carjacker tries guessing codes at random, BlackJax actively ignores his code entries for the next few minutes. Even if he were to find and remove the BlackJax control unit, he would still be unable to restart the engine. That's Clifford technology you can count on.

Count me in if it's £125 inc fitting.

Am I right thinking that this only helps with car jackings? Won't make any difference if the car just get stolen then.

Am interested but would like to know where installation is going to take place.

Cheers.

If you don't enter the code, the car only goes a short distance, so even if they nick your keys out of the house they will still only get down the road

OK, I understand now. Another PIN number to remember!

Anyone have an idea of how long fitting takes. Looks like motoguard are up in Birmingham so will have to make a day of it.

Cheers.

Fitting is in Birmingham. Takes about 1.5-2hrs. Works independently of any alarm and uses it own siren/horn.

get the price down to £100 and I'll think about it or I might spend the money on your wheels.

Does anybody have one of these but not running a tracker? (might not be something you wanna tell people tho)

This is a good price cuz tracker wants £110 per year

Had blackjax fitted by motorguard last week, very pleased system works well(althogh I did manage to turn it off by mistake!!). It gives you notice that the pin has not been entered to give you a chance, but then it starts to flash brakes then kill the engine, then the alarm goes off. Would highly reccomend the system and Motorguard.

The blackjaxs system i have seen doesn't use a keypad, it has a button that you press in a certain patten/sequence.

Had a Trakker Monitor fitted my MG last year, excellent service.

With this you do not need a subscription Trakker.

For £125 Count me IN.

Every time your car door opens and close's you will need to enter your pin including opening your door at say Md's drive through for a split second and yes it works independtly of your existing alarm.

Nice feature to have, as if your car was also stolen it would auto switch off down the road as the the theif would have to open the door to get in..

RRP for this is £199, so this groupby is definatly a good bye

..though money is limited at present..
