Classic head bolts.......special tool??
Hi guys,
I'm just about to remove the head bolts from my 1998 sti type R engine.
I've looked at the head of the bolts and they appear to be a "non standard" design.......??? It looks like the sides of the 12-point heads become shallower towards the bottom of the grooves??
It's difficult to describe - but basically a multi point socket fits on but grips less towards the bottom of the grooves because of the design??
I'm worried that I might "round" the bolt heads using a normal multi point socket?
So, does anyone know if there is a special tool/socket for these head bolts, or is this normal and I just use a standard multi point socket?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks guys......one head removed, and damage found.......
- 1 exhaust valve with hole in
- piston with damage/burr at outer circum approx 10mm in length
Both damage in same cylinder but not enough to cause engine failure, coolant loss and failure to start/run???
I wonder what lies in store under the other head??!!
