Default intermittent power steering

Hi,
Iv's got a 52 wrx blobeye and the steering keeps going between normal/smooth to heavy and lumpy.
Checked the power fluid and it was a bit low so fill up but still the same. Would this need bleeding or is it likely the pump is on the way out?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Could be a loose pump drive belt try adjusting that first as it will cost nothing. Bleeding is easy just top up the fluid and start the car and go lock to lock 9 or 10 times fella.

If the above doesn't work then maybe a fluid change would help. Mine went a bit mad the other day but was down to tyre pressures being very low.

Well I tried the bleeding and it seemed to wrok for a bit then went back to lumpy.
I think I'll pick up a new belt and try that and also a fluid change. Where do I drain the fluid from on these?

Default power steering issues

Hi, my 02 bugeye has just started doing the same as you describe, just wondered if you had managed to solve the problem. I recently had a full 4 wheel allignment and camber done and the car was fine after that, then a few days later the same symptoms as you say started. Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks for the reply, I will soak them both and see how it goes, its funny as the technician who did the fourwheel and camber adjustments said everthing was stiff, so worth a try.

I changed out my powersteering fluid as it was very dark and looked a lot thicker than it should.
Made a massive difference but still a little heavier than I think it should be but not lumpy now. Will try soaking the steering joints tonight to see if that makes any difference hopefull it will as looking to sell it shortly
