Default Airflow meter

Hi guys, the frigin air flow meter has gone again on my impreza v5 type R, I changed it less than 2000 miles ago when I had the engine rebuilt!

Surely it should last longer than 2000 miles, is there something that makes them go? The car is on standard filter! Only mod is a straight through exhaust and remap!

Any ideas, and or where to get them at a good price?

Cheers

Vibration is said to cause issues. Is the airbox etc secured properly?

Did you replace it with a brand new genuine one? Or second hand or after market?

They should last years. My MY00 had the same MAF for the first six years of its life. I changed it twice to be safe in the passed seven years but never really been a problems so far. My car is on about 116,000miles I think.

I bought a SH one from a reportable trader on here around 5 months ago and done less than a 1000 miles and I'm positive that's gone too as it's showing the same symptoms as before. When you buy second hand it's to be expected but I'm getting rid of it over the next month or so when the car goes on ESL.
If I was going to keep the MAF then I'd buy new, I'm sure Import Car Parts sell brand new ones.

I think it's just the standard subaru paper type one! But I may be wrong, I'll have to check that! Good thinking! Thanks

The 99/00 mafs are very delicate, vibration or too much oil can break them.

I disconnected the battery just to clear the fault code as the car wasn't showing any actual issues for the MAF sensor! Although since I've done that, the car only runs at half boost now! No fault codes anymore but only half a bar boost!! Any ideas?

Apparently bad MAF's don't always show on ECU fault codes. How do you know this new MAF is faulty?

The reason I thought it was faulty was only due to the fault code, although now I have an actual problem with the low boost!
