Always stalls on first start up

Always stalls on first start up
My type R seems to stall each time I start it first time.
Second time it you might be able to pull away but you need to give it a little bit more revs than usual to stop it stalling.
Also after it has had a good run it seems to struggle a little bit starting back up, it's cranking up but wont fire up, and needs a little blip of the accelerator.
I don't know if the problem is linked. Any ideas what I should be looking at please

Does it struggle to accelerate when first cold? And/or pulling away from junctions etc until a bit of heat gets in?
Hate to suggest it at this stage but valve seating issues are quite common on these. A leak down test will provide a good base on what direction you'll need to go.

I'm not sure it's that then as I got 250miles to the tank which is quite good I guess with the lower ratio gears on the type r.
Water temp sensor: would that not be the idle control valve?
Might be an idea to get the mapper who mapped it to have a look at it the next time they are in the area. But I'm guessing it might not be that with needing to blip the throttle after its had a run to start it.

Happened to me bud in my v3 sti everytime i started the car it would stall from cold (repeated about 5 times before it finally went right), worked out to be the battery. I changed the Lambda, TPS, IAVC, MAF, T Stat, Plugs, Coil Pack, Coolent temp, fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs still had the same problem. Bought a S4 60A Bosch battery and it cured the problem (all sensors were fine). Worked out that on start up although there was enough oommphhh to get her started there was not enough supply to all critical sensors causing her to die repeatedly. Neighbours hated me for it each morning at 6am...
