Default Help! UK Turbo Classic Dump Valve Question

Hi chaps,

I have recently bought myself a 99MY Impreza Wagon UK 2000 Turbo, its pretty standard running only a newage STi intercooler and cat back exhaust system. however it does have a VTA dump valve fitted, I have noticed that on the motorway (70ish mph) the dump valve seems to constantly hiss away even though the boost gauge is reading a -Vac?

Is this normal?

Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks Luke,

Not unusual. The VTA needs adjusting, or is just faulty. You'd be better to revert back to a recirculating type (standard) dump valve.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I've taken it off and had a look at it and I cannot see what make it is, I was worried my boost was coming in too soon?

I have ordered a standard Recirc valve off Darren @ JDM so fingers crossed!

This is not going to cause damage is it?

Thanks.

Stay off boost until your new d/v comes.

Do you think I'm best taking off the dumpvalve completely until my Recirc valve arrives?

I could just block off both pipes?

Thanks.

I'm not in to the old "chav horns" I'd far rather my car runs as smooth as possible! Why fix something that's not broken...

You don't need to remove it. Just stay off boost until the new one comes.
Easy.
