Well I've got a newage impreza blob non turbo and it runs fine I've had a afterburner vortex exhaust on of ages with no problems and it it has as much power as any n/a but today I had an uel manifold fitted now it struggles to put the power down and takes ages to get to 70?? could be coincidence having the UEL fitted and the issues. Possibly check o2 sensor, spark plugs, HT leads, coil pack and MAF sensor.

I had to replace all of the above back in the day when my Impreza sport had hesitation issues, every one of the above failed at some point during its lifespan causing the same hesitation/loss of power issue.

I take it you changed to uel to get the flat four burble ?
The N/A's always seem to loose power when fitting uel as the el have better/more evenly spaced exhaust pulses which scavenge the cylinders better, producing good mid to top end torque power amongst other things.

Just my 2 pence worth.

A url manifold on a sport will make it lose power at the top end. There was a big thread on impreza sport forum before it closed.

Thanks guys I don't really want to lose the power for the noise wish I knew before I fitted it... I guess I'll be going back to stock! but I could happily go along at 100 *couch* I mean 70 easily but no it struggles to get there not worth it!! Thanks again for putting it to bed

Mine was feeling a little sluggish until I fitted an exhaust bung and then in an instant it became more responsive, I guess maybe the sports prefer a smaller exhaust or something and now it has a smaller exit it has the right amount of back pressure? I have uel headers, 1 decat pipe, straight through centre section and afterburner vortex, now with a bung lol

The only difference is the uel and the afterburner vortex? Maybe a smaller exhaust is needed but when I change down before I could feel and hear it now there's nothing plus the exhaust seems a lot quieter?

You'll need a remap to get around the changes to pressure pulses in the exhaust system. Your current map can't account for those physical changes. Had it on my EP3 Civic before and the car feels flat until right at the top end. A map session will sort.
