Default Cambelt change, what else?

My cambelt is due this year, so when my wallets recovered from Christmas I'll book it in. I know it's good practice to do the water pump and tensioners, but is there anything else I should get changed? Also would I benefit from lightened pullies or anything along them lines. It's a standard 04 wr1, but I will be looking at a remap in the future, and I'd like to replace everything with better parts as I go along. I have done a search but it's hard to find the good points amongst the should I get it done threads. I'll probably try and get it in to slowboy to have it done as they're quite local, so is it worth getting parts myself? Or should I just leave it to the pro? Thanks.

to be correct the only actual requirement is for a belt.......everything else is on an 'inspection' basis and the w/pump is only required if your car starts to impersonate a VAG group motor - not an issue on Subaru's

if your doing it on you drive then it may make more sense to have a full idler/tensioner kit but the likes of ourselves keep everything on the shelf and hence our customers benefit by only paying for the actual job required

Have a good look at your auxiliary belts. If them showing signs of
Deteriorating you might as well change them why doing cambelt. When doing cambelts at work I often change the auxiliary belts aswell

One thing to consider is a uprated oil pump, as it does not take long to do whilst the cambelt is off.

They're good, I changed them at the weekend.

I'll look into that then thanks. Being nearly 10 years old now, I can imagine a lot of bits and pieces could do with refreshing.

I came from an Audi A3 so that's probably where I got the water pump thing from.

Thanks. Any opinions on the lightweight pulleys, or would it just be pointless unless I'm heavily modifying the engine?

In that case I'll need a clear cover, a billet guide, and a fancy colour belt as well.

Will you go for crazy colours?? LOL

The main thing to remember is what ever else you do the labour charge will be mainly the cambelt change with small(ish) increases per other job.
