Water in passenger footwell
Hi
Iv got a slight problem on my car.. just bought it few days ago.
In the morning the front windscreen gets frosted from inside and water seems to be inside of the car. Also the rear driver side footwell is soaked with water?
What could be causing this problem
any help would be appreciated

The water in the car is causing the screen to condensate on the inside and freeze at night. You need to dry it out totally. As to the water getting in in the first place check all the window seals as they are a pain especially on the older cars. Check the boot and tyre well for water ingress as well. Hope you find it. I'm constantly been fighting leaks the past 4 years mate.

Is the front carpet wet at all? If not, suspect:
Window seals,
Boot seal,
Rear windscreen seal,
Spoiler seal, (unlikely)
Rear light seal, (unlikely)
The last two, although very common, are unlikely in this case since water ingress at those points goes into the boot, spare wheel well, and side es of the boot behind the trim.

Not sure what age your car is, but I had this on a newage, and took me absolutely ages to find.
It turned out to be that the rubber boot around the A/C condensate pipe, where it exits via the front passenger footwell, had gone missing. Every time I drove through a puddle, water sploshed in, soaking the carpet and, over time, caused a lake to form on the passenger side
It was a cheap part that I fitted easily...and then found the missing one at the side of the driveway lol.

If it is the heater matrix, I had the same problem with my old Berlingo van. It's dead easy to replace the matrix in one of those. All you do is remove its two retaining bolts in the engine compartment, take out the complete dashboard (with steering wheel), fit the new one and put everything back.... A simple job, taking less than two days.
Alternatively, this stuff:

sorted it out in about five miles, and has continued to do so for well over two years (fingers still crossed).
I hope this is of help.

Hi all,
I have a similar problem with my v2 STI. When I bought it in march the drivers and passenger side footwells were saturated, but worse on the drivers side. So I had the carpet out and dried it all out. I found that the rear light leaked so fixed that and assumed that was the leak path.
However today I have discovered that the drivers side is wet again, worst under the pedals. I've had a look around and can't see anything obvious. I started to consider heater matrix but the car hasn't lost any water and does not steam up when the heater is on.
So it must be coming in from outside. With regards to window seals mentioned above if the windscreen leaks, does the water path run down behind the dash? Is it comon for the side windows to leak? The car lives in the garage so if the windows were leaking it would have to be somewhere I can't see?..

First off, taste the damp on the carpet..seriously, just dip fingers in and taste. If it's sweet-ish, it's the heater matrix gone.
If it's plain water, then yes, windscreen seals gone/not done properly. The path is down the inside of the dash.
Only cure is screen out and reseal. A decent fitter will do that.
