Default 94 WRX misfire

I have a misfire under hard acceleration on my 1994 wrx. It only happens under full throttle at around 4.5k rpm. It's quite a violent misfire similar to the fuel cut I had on my Evo when my actuator went. Is there a similar thing on these cars? I have a boost controller which I turned to the lowest setting and It says that my peak boost is only 8.8psi. Surely if there was a fuel cut it would be at a higher limit then this? Should I check the coil packs?

Sounds like ignition. Most limey coil packs or plugs

+1 for the coil packs breaking down under load - might be a good time to upgrade to some Newage coil packs.
