Can anyone help me i have been trying to find out exactly what kind of Impreza i have but the VIN no. i have doesn't seem to make any sense. I have checked it but maybe somebody here can help tell me. Is it because it was a special factory order? The VIN No. is: GC8065263. The Impreza is a 1998 2 door 2.0L turbo STI but has no type r tag. Please Help

 

Look at the plate on passenger shock top.. You need to get your model code.. That will be easy to confirm

looks like a normal JDM chassis number

 

What i meant by the type r tag is that it is a 2dr light weight model no abs, aluminum boot and bonnet but it is not a limited edition type r model.

 

They only ever had aluminium bonnets... No other panels are aluminium.
As I said there is a model code on the vin plate.. That will tell you exactly what that chassis number is ment to be... Whether it is 4dr, ra, type r etc etc whether it's v3 v4 or v5
