Default Start giving more power! :D

Hi,

I have a Impreza GC8 1997 2.0 Turbo 211bhp. The only modifications I have is bigger rims, upgraded suspension, 3" exhaust and turbo pressure regulator. I think the car runs fine but now I want a bit more power. I was thinking in a bigger turbo, what do you think?

Regards.

Depending on how much power you want, A decent tune could help out a bit. If you want more than that. Fuel pump, injectors and turbo would prob be the next step.

Sorry, I forgot, I already have a walbro fuel pump.
Turbo and FMIC upgrade what do you think?
What turbo you think is the best option?

Depends on how much power you want. I assume yours has td04. Then a esl board and decent re-map should see you at about 270.. If im correct??

What is a 'turbo pressure regulator' ???

Do you mean a cheap and nasty manual boost controller ?

Your best route...

Walbro fuel pump.
Sports cat downpipe (or de-cat downpipe if you have a friendly mot garage).
Decent cat back exhaust system.
Uprated panel filter
Newage WRX top mount intercooler.
Remap using ESL daughter board.
New spark plugs, oil and filter service.

Remember brakes are just as important.

Oh, and remove the manual boost control. It'll do more damage than good.

Did you actually READ the post above? MattyB has laid it all out for you.

I'd be interested in:
How big are your rims?
What is uprated suspension?
Have you got rid of that manual boost controller yet?

Scrap aircon and get 5kg seats. Equivalent to 20bhp.

Hi,

Yes I read but I want more opinions if is possible.
About your questions:
17"
Is the original suspension but modified in a suspension specialist firm.
Yes, I read.

In the 97" Impreza is possible to remap the ECU?

Regards.

Can I suggest you do a search. Matt has told you all you need to know. You seem unsure on what mods your car has already. So very difficult for anyone to help you properly. Find out what mods you have. Then do a search on here.

Honestly, over the 10 years that i have been on here, there must be dozens of threads that cover what you want to know.

ESL is Enduring Solutions, Is a company which wells a "computer board" which fits in your standard ECU, and allows the everything to be tuned and remapped via USB. Boost, Ignition, Fuel etc.
BESt value for money i ever spent on my car.

I don't know that possibility.
I'm going to Google this company.

I found this:
http://www.enduringsolutions.com/

Dmacnz, do you know if they send the board already with a remap or I have to buy the board first and than I have to remap the ECU in other Company / ECU Tunner?

I got a v2 board and it came with a 6K Map which is a sti tune.

You will need to get it mapped by a pro to get the best results.

If you send esl a email they are super helpful.

Thanks Mate, I already do that. Let's see.
About the air filter do you think the KN is a good choice or can I bought a better filter without spending a lot more money than the KN price?

Yes k&n is fine and that is a good price. But to be honest, you will not notice the difference and may be see 1-2hp more when mapped. I'd put the money towards handling mods, such as a stiffer rear anti-roll bar.
