Morning All,

I'm planning on fitting a front mount intercooler to my bugeye one evening this week. Will be doing in a ehated workshop but was just wodnering roughly how long I can expect it to take... Any bits I can do any preperation for in advance? Any tricky bits?

Any help most appreciated.

Cheers
Sam

Tommy- cheers , iv planned for a map tweak in the next week or so. Assume it's fine to drive off boost.

I've given myself around 5-6 hours, what is the grinder for though? Got me worried now lol

I did the same to my old bug, Its not hard, u can drive carefully off boost to a mapper.

If you PM me your email address, i'll send you fitting instructions for a japspeed FMIC to a newage. Even if your kit is not a japspeed, u might find it helps anyway.

You're not getting the whole story here mate. If you can do this job in an evening then you're a genius. A lot of metal needs cutting out of the bumper beam to accommodate the FMIC. A 4-1/2" angle grinder will do it but you'll go through several wheels. A 9" grinder makes it easier. Fitting the pipework is not straightforward either. Then there is the bumper itself that has to be carefully cut to fit.
I've done three of these now and each one has been a PITA. The first took three days (an HDI Hybrid from Harvey, needed considerable pipe modifications to fit around an RCM filter) the last, a Japspeed, a whole day.
I'm sure people who do these regularly can do the job in several hours but as you're asking questions I'm guessing you're not one of them.

it depends on the fmic, some just require the bumper bar to be removed, others like the hdi require bits cutting from the bumper bar.
but i agree id allow a couple of days.

my hdi one took me a couple of days to complete properly.

I know the one I have bought comes with one of the bars that bolts on to the front and hangs the intercooler from it? will I still need to cut stuff?
