idle rich then lean
HI ive had this problem for a while now cant seem to figure it out its basically the same as this dude on you tubes
Ive tried cleaning the icv, boost solenoid, maf, intake, looked for boost leaks with soapy squirted on water, the o2 sensor and plugs are reasonably new. tried blocking off the dump valve cus its a hks and still does the same thing, dont think its the maf cus the engine dies as soon as you pull the plug, not sure what else to try other than replacing the idle control valve and wot not. any idea's?

its a turbo 2000 1998, at idle when warm the revs fluctuate between 500-800 and my air fuel meter (the ones with the flashy lights wired to the o2 sensor in the ecu) goes from lean to rich back and forth. no other problems, no cels, no fault codes with black connectors. The afm is signalling rich as the gauge reads on full boost. I think its air leak somewhere but i cant find one

Hi there
Can be the yours lambda sensor,on yours you should have 3 wire Bosch sensor,if you are not running OE Lambda sensor the you can have problem
I would suggest check fuel pump if its OK,if not then replace Fuel pump(HRC I can only recommend)
Do you have wideband or narrowband AFR gauge?

Yes O2 sensor is same as Lambda sensor.
I would check wiring on the Lambda if its OK and after that I would decide what to do or what to needs to be check
For best results or best AFR reading I would suggest Wideband and not Narrowband AFR,some AFR Wideband doesn't cost too much

checked the wiring on the lambda wiring seems fine unscrewed it and gave it a clean with carb cleaner, replaced the maf, and its still fluctuating at idle possibly even worse now and it threw up a cel code 22 knock sensor. gonna try putting my old irridium plugs back in, then probably a new idle control valve
