Default GT3582R or GT4094?????

Hey people,

Having a hard time keeping a sensible on this one....

My MD321T is a little worse for ware and I'm replacing it with a GT3582R. Its on a 2.1ltr stroker + supporting ancillaries yada yada.

Now the reason for the title id that I have to buy the GT35 but I have in my possession a pair of GT4094's that will be going on my 20B RX7..... but that's not even close to being ready for the engine let alone the turbos etc...

My question is views on the GT40 on the scoob. Oh and this is literally the car I drive to and from work in every day its not a weekend warrior.

Hi there

Not sure, but GT3582R can be too little bit big for 2.1L,depends on cams and what fuel you will be using, but you can find this turbo laggier,GT4094 not sure how will perform on 2.1L,but I would say will be laggy

You will be running AVCS?

For reasonable spool GTX4094 you will need 2.35L with AVCS and NOS which helps with spool up

Maybe GTX3576 or something like GT30 .63AR will be better suited yours car

35 would be fine for the 2.1. It's an extremely well balanced turbo. The issue is I don't need to buy a 40. I have 2!

Also I mean what constitutes laggy over a 35? Are we saying the 40 will come in 500 rpm later? 1,000 rpm later? Anyone got any experience with one?

Yes can be perfect with right setup

Speak over here with MartynJ or AlanJ@EngineTuner about the GT4094,I think they tried GTX4094 on the 2.1L

Yeah,

Not saying that its a goer or weather it would work, but would be interesting. RCM's GSII runs a EJ20 with 4094. Appreciated engine specs are just a touch different to mine !

RCM spend a LOT of time and money on research on the best way to spend time and money!

Gobstopper 1 (can we call it that now?) had a rather large dose of NOS to improve spool/lag, god knows what Gobstopper 2 is running but it'll be hardcore either way.
I'm in the process of fitting a 35R to my 2.1 so I'm hoping it won't be a bad option.

I'm with Jura on this one a Gt30 and a 2.1 stroker is a ideal match up I know plenty of 2.35 cars run the Gt35r but even quite a few of them are reverting back to the Gt30 i guess it all comes down to what supporting mods you have to aid the spool up with the bigger turbos as said by 4evernewbie olley from RCM uses a lot of NOS to get those bigger turbos spinning up,so I would have to think that yes the 4094 turbo would be quite laggy on your car.SJ.

The gt40 will be totally pointless for road use,it might just come on boost before you get to work.
Im also in the process of fitting a gt35 to my 2.1 and im worried this is gonna be laggy.

35 isn't too large at all. You have to get the ancillaries right.correct size intercooler not ridiculously oversized so you lose turbo efficiency but not too small that you loose thermal efficiency of the core. Right sized pipe work etc. Match that with the right size exhaust you have very manageable car.

Yeah to be honest I kind know the 40 is too big, but when you have two of them sitting on the shelf stearing at you you have to ask the questions.

I did speak to rcm this morning. It's not the 40 is too large for the 2.1 as it will spool it. Just end up with a narrow power band for a road car.
