Blue smoke!!!
Hi everyone got blue smoke coming from my car. I think and hope its the turbo as was going to upgrade very soon anyway, these are the symptoms it has
~ cold start no smoke!
~ normal driving no smoke!
~ on boost no smoke!
But once warm if I stop at lights, junction etc starts to smoke within 30secs I did have the downpipe off recently and there was what I would say excessive play in the shaft.
Cheers harri

unfortunatly internet diagnosis can be a bit hit or miss as it could be many things.
but at least you get some advice on things to look for.
blue smoke is oil burning, so:
it could be the turbo oil seal
it could be worn piston rings
it could be valve stem seals
it could be a cracked block
it could be a cracked head
it could be a failed head gasket
i guess if you are changing the turbo, then start there and cross your fingers.
with valve stem seals it will usually smoke first thing when started as oil will leak past the seals into the cylinders overnight etc, so it will smoke when started until the oil has burnt off and usually be not too bad for the rest of the day
worn piston rings can smoke when under load as the crankcase will be pressurised allowing oil vapour to pass through into the cylinder
worn turbo oil seal can smoke again under load, but will be hard to see as your driving along, more noticeable when stopped like you say.
