Newage Decat - Question
Hi All,
Done my research and it seems that it can be quite risky fitting a straight through system on the newage imprezas without a remap, if I am correct in my reading then this is due to boost spikes? Can this be cured by a boost controller? just as I am going to be driving my car for around a month with the decat on before a remap.
Cheers
Sam

Not much risk de-catting the bug WRX with a TD04 turbo. Not a lot of a chance of a boost spike because the airflow is so small. All the ECU does is compensate as it's quite clever. Not a lot of change in BHP or spoolup. Just a bit noisier
De catting the STi is tricky because the larger turbo flows a lot more air and is prone to boost spikes and not recommended without a re-map unless you stay off boost. before re-maps people drilled out the STi restrictor pill to help.

Hi all, fitted my new turbo back decat today, sound excellent however I am now pushing 1.3 bar of boost... Is this dangerous? Only mod is an induction kit...
