Although price was still on my priority list it wasn't the main focus for me. I knew with absolute conviction that I was getting a quality job done so that more important for me.

Plus having an ex- prodrive engineer do the build is a bonus

Give them a ring to get a quote. They are a cosworth supplier so can get some decent prices on some nice gear.

Is that 2.5k budget for just the build? Not a drive in drive out? Are you going to remove and reinstall it yourself?

You need to consider what you want from the build before deciding who to do the work for you. If you plan to run moderate power I.e below 400bhp with low ish boost I.e 1.5 bar max the SCD block you have will be fine. If you intend to push the engine above 400 towards the 500 mark and higher boost then in my opinion your block will become the week link. The SCD blocks have an inherent weekness around the cut outs for the block half bolts. when pushed these blocks have a tendency to crack the liners in this area.
The solution is to have a closed deck insert fitted which eliminates this weekness these are pretty much proven now and are not that expensive to get done. As part of your costing process give Alyn at AS Performance a ring and get a quote for this and then make a decision on what spec etc. p

This was the result on mine at approx 500bhp and 1.85 bar of boost after a season and a bit of hills and sprints. So say 17 events at approx 8 runs of 1min per event = total 136 mins of track use and about 20 to 30 road miles
