Default STI version 3 not hitting max boost

Hi all had this car a couple of months now but after only 1 day of owning it the bottom end went. so had it back on the road now for nearly 2 weeks and i've finally covered enough miles to push it a bit. however it will not boost past 0.8-0.9 bar. the ecu is standard. standard air box but exhaust is decatted. i can't even say if it was doing this before as the boost gauge didn't work when i brought it .
anybody got any ideas why it's not going higher ? i'm sure it should be more like 1.1.
Any help would be great

You'd need to check what ECU and turbo you have first. Standard boost on my UK Turbo is 0.9 bar. That's with the 8S ECU and TD04 turbo.

What year is your car?

You should have a 6S ECU and it boosts at 1.1bar like you say. I'd check and clean the boost solenoid and also make sure you actually have the 6S ECU!

Hi yeah i have a 6s ecu and a vf2? Turbo cant quite read what it says its warn down. I can see a restrictor pill in 1 of the hoses. Was wondering if this maybe the problem?
I would have thought with the decat it would have been overboosting

Think you are supposed to have a VF23 as standard. The restrictor pill just stops boost spikes as far as I know but won't restrict the actual boost level. I'd be looking at the boost solenoid and whether your boost gauge is accurate!

Your having boost problems after your unmappable standard ECU running V3STi has been decatted?

...........and you're wondering why?

The car was decatted when i brought it. This is my 5th classic all of which have been decatted by previous owners and under boosting has never been an issue. Over boosting yes

My UK Classic was decatted when I bought it too, I thought it had been mapped but it turns out I have the 8S ECU which cant be mapped either. I have never had any issues with underboost, just overboost. I've fitted a blitz boost controller to keep it at the standard 0.9bar until I get the ESL board fitted.

Anyway, have you had a chance to clean the solenoid?
