Anyway to get a Diesel boxer to sound like a WRX/STI?
hey guys.
I plan on getting the impreza 2.0D next Jan due to it being really cheap insurance and better mpg for commuting. Just wondering, Is there anyway to get the exhaust to give off the famous scooby rumble at a loud level? i understand i can't change the engine sound(diesel tractor sound ), just want the exhaust sound to be like a petrol turbo scooby. Could i just buy a WRX aftermarket exhaust? or do i need to get a specific diesel exhaust?
Thanks,

I never see the point of these threads.
If you want an Impreza to sound like an Impreza the buy a WRX or STI and fit your choice of exhaust.
Normally aspirated petrol Imprezas or diesels (are they blown?) are never going to be a WRX/STI. Infact if I was looking for a 2L diesel it wouldn't be a Subaru, there much nicer cars out there

It's never going to be quite the same, but it can get close:
love those italian mountain roads
The key to the classic subaru burble is the unequal-length exhaust headers. Without those (ie, with the standard equal-length ones found as standard on non-turbo petrol, diesel and twinscroll subarus), you'll never get the burble. same thing with the old saabs.

you're never going to get rid of the engine sound. From all accounts I've heard yes the economy is very good, not forgetting that it's an AWD system so that will lower it somewhat compared to other FWD/RWD competition.
