Default newbie to impreza's- Engine advice!

Hi everyone im new to the imprezas,

I have bought a 2004 blob eye impreza wrx, the car has a knocking bottom end! so i bought it to replace the engine in.

Now my question is - What engine can i fit in there? as they all look the same! lol

I want something that i dont have to change looms ect, something i can ust bolt in! so does the bug eye engine fit in? someoe told me a classic turbo 2000 engine will fit ?

I just wanna fit something in there so i can run around in it whilst i rebuild the old engine!

Thank for your time!

Most will fit but if you don't want to change the loom or ecu you really need the same engine, plus why rebuilt a wrx engine, I would save the cash and buy a sti engine
