Fumes ie petrol fumes? Check your fuel lines for leaks around the fuel filter ive had seen them leaking from there before.

Cats removed usually brings the smell on a bit
Stock exhaust + pipe work etc , u normally wouldn't pick up on it , unless the engine is running very hot , /

That's hot in generalisation ( hot day , car been boosting a lot , city driving etc etc
/ it's impossible 2 diag from a computer / it' could be anything from a bulkhead bung missing so the engine is also venting to cabin / turbo - downpipe gasket etc etc / or it could be like I said , it's hot & u have an acute smell .

Regards

I sometimes get the same thing - couple of things:

Next time it does it pop the bonnet if its safe and have a look at the drivers side rocker cover look for any oil or smoke maybe that the gasket is leaking a little.

And if you have been driving it hard you may be getting a bit of oil carry over into the inlet can cause it to smell a bit - catch can is the only way around that that i know of.

Possibly rocker gasket oil leak onto hot exhaust.

I had my hawkeye for 7 years and never experienced this.

If its when you stopped its something burning off under the bonnet.

I have had this smell now and again. I have no leaks at all and it only seems to happen on the odd occasion in traffic. I now think its outside smells from other vehicles rather than from mine. Another thing to remember though is stainless exhausts tends to leak a bit until there hot.
