Default 1998 UK TURBO WAGON

Hi Guys,My work mates car (turbo wagon) goes into limp mode when the car hits 4k rpm!!! Done a fault code check and it shows up 33 speed sensor, replaced it and still the same....The speedo clocks never worked since the car was bought, would this cause limp mode?

Gus

Ps 1998 uk turbo wagon with white wr sport clocks,i suspect these clocks aint the oe for the car,if that's any help...

Hi mate he maybe has to carry out an ecu reset too if he hasn't already done so. The white clocks are version are 99 / 00 afaik, I have them in my car as I have a v5 engine in a '97 car. My speedo doesn't work either as we don't have the sender from the gearbox, but I have aftermarket engine management so can't compare directly)

Are your new clocks working boss, if they aren't it'll go into limp mode if they are could be wire into back of clocks. I take it it's electric clocks and not mechanical from the year.
PS 97 v3 mechanical as a rule 98 v4 electrical as a rule. is your sender on the gearbox a cable or electric ?

Right lads,Ecu reset was done after the speed sensor was changed and yes its a MY98 car....The white wr sport clocks that are on the car just now don't show your mph but the rev counter works!!!!
I think the cars oe clocks will be the black ones and who ever changed them has fitted the wrong clocks, causing this limp mode. Ive put a wanted add up in here for the MY98 black clocks along with the wire loom, see if this helps after another ecu reset
