I guess its like everything you can think of,there is always a cheaper alternative that will work but for how long?when i first got my headers and up pipe wrapped it was Harvey who told me how good the DEI wrap was compared to the other makes as he had tryed the majority out and came to the conclusion that DEI heat wrap was fit for purpose and the best that he had used.SJ.

Agreed on DEI, I recommend it frequently and have used it for years after Harvey's original recommendation to me. 6 years later it still appears to be attached to my sport cat on Fluffy. This was how it originally looked when I first wrapped it with DEI:

It has partially come off the header pipework but they look like they have got wet frequently.

Have had other heatwrap fitted by 'specialists' before this and it was nasty junk that fell apart in no time at all.

I didn't use any spray, just briefly dunked the wrap in water as per Harvey's instructions at the time. Can't remember the width I used either nowadays. I used safety wire too for good measure.

Best I can do picture-wise for the headers:

why dunk in water? guessing to make it more plyable. also is it easy to cut?

DEI for me, don't soak it though just spray it or you wash the treatment out.
In process:

Finished (not my pic as I was too cold when I was done)!

I used stainless lockwire, well worth the effort (buy some lockwire pliers though!) I just used an old empty spray bottle (think it was flash) well rinsed and filled with water, just spray enough to dampen the wrap.
