My understanding is yes it will increase the sound, but if you start removing cat's you need to looking into getting a re-map. Unless the "middle section" u've replaced is just the pipe without the resonator then u'll be ok.

Thanks for the reply mate yes it's just a straight through pipe no resonator I was thinking about replacing the prodrive backbox but think ill just fit the decat pipe and check the sound levels don't want to be annoying the neighbours lol if the cat is removed is it a problem then with air fuel mixture is that why you need remap ?

Ive got a prodrive back box on my bug wrx and fitted an h&s unresonated centre pipe. Its made the exhaust a bit louder but not overly so. It sounds like it should now without being too look at me! I must be getting old lol.

At the moment it's very quiet unless I floor the car which I get nice sound but I'm not a hard driver and like the sound of the rumble I hear on subarus around hope this helps what I've got ill put pic upof pipe I bought I think it's to take resonator out not decat which it was sold to me as take a look what do you think ? And fitting this would it give me nice burble ?

Hi hoff just update for you just found out there are 2 pipes on the wrx newage that need to be removed to get noticeable sound increase there is the resonator pipe just behind the backbox and a small pipe just after the downpipe with cat on which needs to be removed as well both these removed give you a nice burble noise but not over loud to avoid neighbours thought I'd let you know

Cheers daz, my backbox finally turned up so fitted it yesterday, and compared to the stock I'm very happy with the sound, still may go down the route of replacing the resonator, the pipe after downpipe does that have a cat in it? If so have you had and probs running without a remap?

Hi hoff
Fitted my back box decatted after downpipe and removed resonator and I'm delighted with the sound real deep burble just what I was looking for ..... I've had no problems with engine management light after removing cat as some people said I may have problems with .... I've not had car remapped yet but the car seems to be running fine pulls much better through the gears but I have. Duncan from race dynamics coming soon for remap..... If you bit concerned about decat when I just removed the resonator I got nice sound from that... Maybe good for you just to remove resonator first see iff you like what it sounds like ill try and get sound clip of my car on shortly for you to hear
