help please
i bought a classic on a 98 s plate with no engine but everything else, I have bought an engine from a 99 v plate. I have managed to get it to bolt up to the gearbox but I can't get the mounts on the bottom of the engine to line up with the slotted holes as the engine and gearbox seem slightly to far forward. has anybody had this problem before and does anyone know how I can get it to move back and line up?

the release bearing was already in place so i'm not too sure. I have got the clutch arm and pin into place so I think it's right and the box and engine are mated up with no gaps. I haven't checked the gearbox mount so I shall have a look at that. it's about 5-6mm out. I've never worked on one of these before, plenty of other cars but with this I am clueless.

The physical engine will fit no probs. it's the inlet manifold where he will struggle. Depending if his s reg is a v4 or v5. But if it is a 98 as earlier said, he's gonna be in trouble I think. Unless he has the loom. Manifold. Ecu and later sensors.

the inlet and all the sensors seemed to fit as I had to change it over as it had a broken pipe. all the connections seem to fit though. what do I need to look out for difference wise?

I was told it was a facelift and other than that i don't really know lol i only bought it because it was so cheap. So i should be ok with regards to sensors? I have got all the sensors that came with the car as there is a full engine in pieces in the boot.
