When you do fit it, can you please give an update with regards to steering feel etc, as this is a mod I might want to do as well.

What are you doing about the rack? Or are you fitting a electric pump?

I was hoping to mod the power steering rack by removing the internal seals etc, so that it essentially becomes a manual rack. It's a popular mod on the MX5's to increase feedback, but the impreza is a fair bit heavier, so I'm not sure if it's worth it or not.

Ive had the belt go on my old legacy and had to drive it home ..... wouldnt be doing that out of choice!

Unlike the mx5 youve got drive going through those front wheels, so holding onto it when winding it up would be bloody hard work!

If you want more feel, personally id look at suspension geometry and try to get more caster. (antilift kit or chevron lower wishbone mod)

i was planning removing the pump and lines etc.blanking the holes on the rack and pulling the pinion out and giving it all a good covering with wheel bearing grease and resealing it.i personally prefer no power steering and seeing as my car has no a/c no abs and very little crerature comforts dont see why its a bad idea.i do very little town driving and the roads round my way are very good for some quick raw driving

The steering is going to be very heavy. In my opinion way to heavy to have good control at speed
