Default HELP NEEDED!! Idle control valve?

Help needed after days of fustration.

I have a V5 type r, it drives and pulls fine but i have a idle issue. Now and again the idle shoots up to 1500 and fluctuates up to 2000 rpm. The car drives fine, and never stalls. I checked the CEL codes and was getting error 23 (MAF) so i bought a new genuine part from Import car parts. Still the problem arrises. Code still there as well, arrrr. I have check that the sensor is getting power and it is, i check if the O2 sensor and ICV was also getting power. I have removed the ICV and cleaned everything, but still no luck. Now i cleared the CEL code, took the car for a spin, now i get error code 24 (ICV). Sometimes i also get both codes, 23 and 24, but most of the time 23. I have a feeling it is the ICV but not sure, Surly the new MAF sensor is not faulty. Also noted that sometimes the ICV needle hadnt moved when it was hot, maybe an intermediate issue with itAnyone got any ideas how to fix this problem?

Gary

I have been checking for idle issues- maybe try a voltmeter on the ICV?

Presumably it went back on identically after you checked it?

Hi I put it back on the same way. Sticker on the top. I checked that the icv was getting power to it and it was. Maybe I need to check the signal voltage?

The adjustment is via the little screws- are they in exactly the same place?

You can adjust the icv? I know you can adjust the TPS.
Remember this is a newer model from the previous ICV found on the V1 to V4.

ICV adjustment is via the two screws- in essence it turns the ICV angle around- two Philips screws with very soft threads! Must be in exactly the same position as before or wont work

Ok thanks. So it's just try and error to get it right. Just move it slightly till it idles correctly?

Arguably lol.

My issue is kind of solved, but was related to the accelerator cable tension and that being out

No- much more complex lol.

car would stall- but a 'friend' (and Im being honest) cam around and adjusted the fast idle screw and throttle cable. Its a mapped car, so basically screwed my settings- put everything back as was and tightened throttle cable back to as it was, now have slightly higher idle but doesn't stall!

Moral of the story- only people who touch my engine are API and me!

You can't adjust the v5 idle valve it can be cleaned though. Check the throttle position sensor closed voltage and also for air leaks in the hard pipe between the air flow meter and the turbo intake including all breather pipes running from the hard pipe. Probably split near the turbo.

I am seriously thinking of taking the car to a specialist now, out of ideas and its doing my head in.

The car drives fine but more often than not it idles lumpy and is really annoying.

If not sure then that would be wise. Careful who you trust though.
