Default Help Potential Blown turbo

Hi guys I could really do with some help I have recently bought a 97 Uk2000 turbo, and enjoying every minute of it, just sent it in for a service all seemed well, but I noticed yesterday that when I pushed it there was quite a loud whining sound when under heavy boost. there is no smoke or grinding etc but is a slight smell of oil burning I put this down to the recent servicebut now since the noise I am not sure. I havent had chance to look at the turbo yet, but never haveing a suabru before I wouldnt know where to start... is it possible for the turbo to have blown withoue the exessive smoke etc?. and if so I will need to get a new one would like a td05 but apparently need mapping and you cant map a 97.

Also on turbos I have a boost gauge only goes to 1.0 bar and the needle goes right up in the red, my understanding was that uk turbos ran @0.8 bar if i were to fit a secondhand td04 will i kill this one also??.

any help appreciated cheers
