Default engine hesitation???

evening all. ive got a 09 sti ppp. engine standard apart from the ppp stuff. i was out in it today and noticed that in 3rd, 4th, 5th with my foot down, the engine seems to pull but then hesitate for a split second, then carry on as normal, then hesitate again, then carry on as normal. road didnt allow for me to try in 6th but im guessing it would be the same. seems to happen when ive got my foot right down and from about 3000 rpm upwards. any ideas?

Maybe coil pack, Maff, or a fuel issue. Ideally contact your local subaru specialist as its hard to say without seeking profesional help. Any advise on here is probably going be a guess but someone with a similar issue may shine some light on this topic

cheers for the reply, its always been run on v power. it cant tell if it does it in first or second gear as it revs up too quickly to notice. don't get me wrong, it still goes like stink but it feels like there is something stopping it from rev'ing smoothly when on boost or coming on boost. MAF is clean as a whistle btw, checked it earlier.

Sorry to put a downer on it but thats similar to how my 2.5 engine failure start. A slight hestitation at around 2500-3000rpm and like a lack of boost but not fully. Better once hot but still a hesitation
Hope its not mate or your under warranty

oh dear.... warranty expires at the end of january. it seems to be above 3000 rpm, and it comes for about a tenth of a second, then goes and car continues to rev properly, then comes again, then goes??? forged rebuild and a credit card roasting may be on the cards lol! ps no need to apologise mate, im always happy to see people's replies!

yeah, hope so, cars only done 25k so i would be disappointed at an engine failure this early but having read through the threads, it not uncommon by any means. the only thing is my local subaru 'specialist' is subaru in cardiff. never been keen on dealers diagnosing faults as all they seem to do is go through a computer checklist rather than using a little thought and understanding...

Had this in mine not long back - not sure if this the same i can only describe it as been like a punch in the face - the pipe to the waste gate was loose and had a small hole on it?

thanks for the reply, its not quite as vicious as you describe but worth a check. will do in the morning. its quite subtle as passengers don't notice but i do, its quite a 'slight' hesitation. i was thinking maybe the boost solenoid is passing but hey, what do i know!
