Default Help Please with Oil Temp Gauge Problem

Hi everyone, only my second post but been a member for a few years,
I'm on my 5th impreza currently got a 2004 UK Sti running 420bhp.
My car has been covered up and not used for over two months. I started it up today and straight away the Oil Temp Gauge (60mm Shadow) went straight to 130 then after a few mins to 150 which is the highest temp on the gauge. The warning buzzer was also sounding continuously.
Common sense tells me the gauge/sensor is faulty as the oil temp wasn't warm as the car was started from cold.
All I want to know is will I damage anything on the car if I use it now or am I best not using the car until the gauge/sensor is replaced?

Thanks in advance

Maybe some moisture came into sender or gauge or maybe bad connection.
Maybe worth checking..
