Default Strong Smell Of Fuel On Cold Start??

Have been noticing for a while now (maybe since i got my fuel pump replaced but cant remember) that when i start my car from cold i get a strong smell of fuel. It can be fairly potent, and what made me start this thread was, today i was in my bedroom and my father had to move my 04 WRX STi which is parked down the side of the house to the front of the house, which is where my bedroom is situated and i got a slight smell of fuel!!. This to me seems excessive and was wondering what could be the cause of such a strong smell of fuel?

Thanks for the link, is there anyway to check if it is actually that rubber hose thats causing the smell (other than replacing it) as it seems a mission to swap a rubber hose??

So whats actually causing the smell, the hose isnt split or anything?? To be fair i only notice it when im reversing out of my drive in the mornings, when i leave work in the evenings i drive straight off (no reverse) and dont smell a thing. Wasnt the problem only related to Blob eyes as mines a Bug Eye 2004?

Its 2-300 quid i could do without spending TBH. Was out in mine today and was no smell. The clamp on the pipe going into the front of my i/c was at a funny angle (looked fine from the top) but no-one has said if that would cause the smell.

If yours is 2004 you have a blob not a bug got that the wrong way around , the early bugs had a problem with the lines, problem seemed to be rectified on the blobeyes iirc

I get a smell in the cab of fuel in my blob, its the exhaust gaskets I'm adamant of it, never smells with the windows closed, and has no leaks anywhere, I was changing the diff the other week so just slackened the tank straps to check around it, nothing! Have checked under the covers in the back to make sure it aint a gasket gone on the pump, but again nothing, and like I say it never smells with the windows closed, and it will always smell more if I give it a steady cruise and then change down to pull out or what have you, and when I had it on the ramps I could see the black marks on the ceramic housing, and I get a weird blow in the up pipe region when cold and smell is more prominent then also if window down, so just bought all new gaskets and I'm pretty confident it will solve my issue at least, just thought I would share it with you, and if you do change the gaskets keep to oe items as the cheap ones are tat or so I have been informed by many people

Well i get the smell of fuel with the window closed, maybe it excess just sitting in the exhaust on when starting it up just throws it out the back. But as i said its not exclusive to it just smelling inside the car (with the window close) as stated in my OP that i can smell if from my bedroom, so can smell it from outside aswell
