Default Legacy boot wont open

I have a 2009 Legacy Saloon, this morning I opened the boot with the lever at the side of the drivers door which worked fine.
Then 20 mins later tried opening with the keyfob, hear the click but the boot would not open, I then tried the lever at the side of the drivers door and nothing.
There is no external key hole on the boot so I am snookered, I cant get in.

Anyone got any thoughts ?
Thank god it wasnt christmas day and the presents were in the boot !!!

Can you get in through the back seats and release it?

It could be a detached/broken cable.

The car has leather seats so the back seat does not fold down

All i have is the ski hatch, I've managed to flick the switch to closed and tried with the keyfob, just sounds like something is stuck.

I can hear clicking, but the lock isnt getting opened.

I'll post in the legacy forum and see what happens thanks.
Pain this car has no external keylock.

Try getting someone to bounce the boot/hatch downwards to ease the tension on the lock as you operate the fob etc.

It sometimes works for bonnet releases.

I believe on the newer models there's a 'switch' on the lock in the boot that you can flick to disable the boot release in the cabin.
It should still let you use the keyfob though.

I did manage to get to the switch in the boot ( through the ski hatch ) and flick it to closed. Trying the keyfob still does not work.

I can hear the solenoid click, but not the same reassuring click as when the boot opens

Yeah I tried bouncing up and down on it this morning.

No Luck, still stuck fast

Thought about taking the back seat out, but as its leather all the blooming bolts are in the boot to remove it.

Taking it to the dealer on thursday, nothing I can do until then

Just spend the last hour with the guy from the AA.

Unbolted the back seats, removed the panels and got the boot open again.

The cable from the driver seat had unhooked, also a bit of plastic had lodged in the lock, stopping it from opening.

Looked like bits of plastic fastener that hold the panels in, but were white and could not see where they had come from ??

So boot now opening

And I now know how to get the back seats out lol

I have to say I was just about to question your belief that the bolts for the rear seat would be in the boot.
