1995 Impreza WRX Bad Starter
Hi everyone.
I have a 1995 Impreza WRX in which has been off the road some time (approx 2 years) due to head gasket failure and lost interest.
I have had the head gaskets replaces with STi steel items and the engine had a freshen up etc. Since this the car struggles to start when left stood, it turns over fine but will not start but tries to fire here and there. The only way to get it started is keep it turning over and over till it gradually catches on misfiring (Running on a couple of cylinders) then slowly starts up and runs on all 4.
The only time is trys to fire is soon as the pump primes and the key is turned, but its only one little fire then it turns and turns over with nothing for a few minutes.
After its start up it is fine (Runs fine, sounds great etc) and will restart up fine when its been running. But soon as its left its the same again and struggles, getting annoying now as I have tried al sorts.
So far i have tried:
New Fuel Pump
New Fuel Filter
New Spark Plugs
New Coil Packs (All 4)
A selection of ECU's
Idle Control Valve
Throttle Body
PVC Valve
Compression is very good and balanced on all 4 cylinders.
The only fault on the ECU is 'Throttle position sensor', it seems i cannot get the right voltage value when setting this up. The car has always been like this.
Thanks for your help and time, really appreciated.

Check you ain't got no cracks on the fuel lines anywhere, mine started doing it a while back and found a perished hose on the fuel filter, sorted that and it was fine after, think it may have been pulling in air or at Least that was my thinking aint done it since its been changed tho, so thought I'd mention it, other than that could it be a possible coolant temp sensor?

There is no petrol leaks anywhere but will check the hoses out. Did yours just keep turning over?

Yes constantly turn over and would fire eventually, like I say it ain't done it since I found the perished hose, but could purely be coincidence lol, had never done it before that, and funnily enough it was just after I serviced it the fuel line was a bitch to get off the fuel filter tho so it may have been me that caused the split tbh but it's all good again now
