Default Best set up for track day?????

hi all, so, it's time for some modifications, but i am unsure which route to take??? my car is primarily used for track days and a teeny bit of road use, i want to make the car really stick to the tarmac and for the sake of an easy comparison let's say i'm using the same tyres and suspension, am i a) better off going with 18's because i get more rubber on the tarmac and a little bit of lowering or b) keep 17's on and then quite abit of lowering? any advice would be appreciated.

If your using primarily as a track car but using it on the road aswell ,I'd stay on 17's with a good set of road legal semi slicks , maybe Toyo R888, Yokohama A048 or Ad08. Then a set of coilovers with a reasonable spring rate and a fast road alignment setup. Also you need to focus on upgrading your brakes as most road pads will melt after a couple of hard laps

If the car is to used on track no point pissing about with lower springs and road tires imo as it wont be quick

cheers, know what you mean about the brakes, track day-ed it last year and could only manage a stint of about 7 laps before the brakes would die!!!

Hi there

Before you are will decide what size of wheels will be better

What brakes you are running, what suspension setup you are running etc.

About the brakes, yes you will need have look for better pads like Carbontech,Performance Friction pad,Pagid RS series etc

Speak here with Alyn@AS Performance about the brake pads and disc upgrade for yours

What car you have new age or classic?

We are prefer 17" on our wagon, but this can be just due we are have fitted on 17" Toyo R888 in size 255/40 R17 and on the 18" we have normal road tyres(245/40 ZR18)
