Default Oil pressure problem resolved. And thank good or my defi's

Hi there
Last week I posted about a problem I had with my oil pressure on my hawkeye.
I had a few responses from you guys on here and with your help ( especially merlin24. - Mick ) the problem was resolved. As most of you said the oil pickup pipe had cracked.

Just wanted to say thanks a lot for every ones help

Also the defi's installed in the car saved me big time. If it wasn't for thoses I would never of got the early warning show by my the pressure gauge

Lucky escape. Good job you had the sense to investigate & not assume wrongly that your gauge was faulty.

Had that on my hatch, Oil pressure was fluctuating by about 10-15 psi on the road, But if pointing the car down large inclines it would become right again lol

I put a fuel pressure gauge on mine, linked to the Defi boost gauge, it shows differential pressure.
Thus I can set it to alarm if it varies by more than 0.2 bar.

Sure enough it did...and turned out to be a split vacuum hose, but found because of the gauge.

I had the same problem - took it to a well known "Scooby-specialist" who failed to diagnose it. Apparently I shouldn't have worried about the oil light taking several seconds to go out on start up
API eventually sorted me out when they rebuilt the engine for me following big end knocking and ringland failure.
Wouldn't have minded so much if it hadn't been for the "specialist" changing the head gaskets 12 months previous at not inconsiderable expense.
Guess it was due a rebuild anyway
Glad you managed to save yourself a few bob.
