Why Did this happen..
Hi all,
Basically driving the car today and passenger rear brake pads squeaking so went and got a new set right away.
Now this is the part I don't understand.
Passenger rear brake pads totally finished no meat on it what so ever.
Driver side rear brake pads as good as new plenty of life left in them.
1. Why has only one side brake pads got used up and not the other??
I recently had my front big brakes put on, and did tell the mechanic 2 bleed the brake system, Could it possibly be a bad job on the bleeding side?? Or an airlock so there is unequal pressure within the brakes??
I have checked both pistons and they are fine don't stick etc
I hope some one could shed some light on this as why it could have happened as I'm not to clued up when it comes to the braking system so help needed please!!!

I've had the same problem on my Imprezas. You can slide the pistons in easy enough with a g-clamp or something but they will just keep coming out when in use.
I put it down to seized callipers, I brought new ones and never had the problem again... until I brought my next Impreza when the same thing reoccurred. It's always on the passenger side rear as well.

Thanks to all the above replies..
Yes mate it went in easy with a G clap so it had me thinking if its the piston why
is it going back in so easily, for now I have put my new pads in. What is the best way to check if it will happen again as I don't want to ruin my new pads??
Any quick test or anything I can do to see if all is working as it should??
Thank u

Using a paint pen or permanently marker, mark a line about 2mm in on the brake pad (on the top) and check after a drive how much closer to the line the brake pad is. This should give you a rough idea how fast the brake pad is being worn...
I tried it and it wears out very fast.

I would personally pop down to my local friendly MOT station and ask them to check the brake effort on the back wheel with the brake tester assuming they have a machine capable.

It's the weekend
Get it up on axle stands, strip clean & rebuild your rear brakes
Good thing to do before the winter sets in anyway
Radio on , coffee , smoke

Cool quite common for sliders to seize on many makes and models. Has the same effect as a seized piston. Binding pads that wear out pretty quick. I do a lot of work on merc sprinters. They have a common one of front sliders seizing. The pedal goes rock hard and the brakes dont work lol
