Default Help with engine management light please!!

Hi Guys

Need a little help with my Engine management light.

2006 Hawk wrx sti with 70k miles on clock with fully stamped history by Adams Subaru….anyway over the past 48 hours I have had the light come on when starting the car and stays on however car still drives faultless. On other occasions I start the car and the light just turns off???

Any advice or suggestions would be a muchly appreciated ;-)

Secondary air system, can be quite a common problem. I think you can just disconnect the pump and valves and have the codes turned off which is prob the easiest option.

I think you can disconnect the pump and valves but you would still need the codes turning off in the ECU ( not just cleared, turning off requires remapping kit and takes about 5mins, I could do it if you are ever in Coventry/Colchester area), this stops them coming back again. The system only works for about 1 min after a cold start, so no need to do many miles to test, if the light has not come on within the first few mins after a cold start then it wont come on from a long drive

Ok guys starting from cold no issues with no light, do you think removing the stored codes may have resolved the issue?

May have just been a sticky valve in the secondary air system that caused the P code. Wouldnt worry about it unless it starts coming back.

Another quick question

Do you know if a Blitzh NUR spec full exhaust system which was on a classic fit a 2006 Hawk sti? including downpipe?

If so would i need to get the car remapped or would it run fine with no issues with a simple change?

Been offered a full system at a cheap price

Could you disconnect the valves as long as they are on the closed positions and remap the car for me? how much would this cost?

You would have to do some digging to see if they can be disconnected or if blanking plates etc. are needed.

I can remap to turn the codes off no problem, only takes 5-10 mins as long as car has not got ECUtek software on it. If it has ECUtek then you would need to speak to an ECUtek mapper.

I beleive the car is running the standard ECU and i hope the valves are in the closed positions as i have been told that you can simply have them disconnected if they are closed and turn of the Engine M light off when you map it?

Are you free this weekend? and are we talking Beer money?
