Default Help needed pls, Boot wont open

Hi

Silly question and it may have been covered be fore but I cant seem to be able to open my boot, I have a Bug wrx 2002 wagon, I have removed the cover off the boot lid and can see the when I use the key it appears to be opening the boot and when the boot handle is pulled it moves the mechanism so I would have thought it should open but its not moving the catch so the boot wont open. I have run out of ideas to why it has stopped working. I used it on Thursday now I cant get in.

Any Ideas ??

Cheers

Rich

I gather that your car has not got the levers (boot and fuel cap) inside the car? might have to remove rear seats to see what the problem is, only about 4 bolts to undo

It has the fuel cap lever but no boot level, I can get access the boot as I can lower the rear seats, which I have done and as said all looks to be working but when the boot lever is lifted the catch isnt moving to open the boot. Just wondered if this was a commen prob or if anyone else had come across it before ?

Cheers

Sounds like the operating rod has come adrift.

Remove the trim from the inside for a look.

What model is this that DOESN'T have an internal boot release?

You've had another look, I take it?

Can you not get the locking mechanism off and see how it works, or won't it open at all?

There has to be some sort of lever/operating rod from the catch to the lock, and it's probable that one end, or the other has come adrift, or snapped off.

Check that there isn't a safety lock, small lever adjacent just on the inner boot lid surface, the saloons have one and that stops the boopt being opened except using the key

Is it not the boot cancel switch? Makes the boot only openable with the key, which is how I have it. Flip it the other way and you can open it with the key AND from inside the car.

But he says he hasn't a control from inside the car?

Look here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item2c67870227

That one is viewed from the INSIDE of the boot. From the outside, the lever you can see sticking out is on the right. Reverse it's position, see if that helps.
