Default Rich petrol smell, advice welcomed.

Hi All, I own a 02 Bugeye and have been experiencing strong rich petrol smell by the drivers door, this happens randomly although is happening more frequent. I have read various threads of info on here and wondered where to look first? Also how likely is it to be the Lambda sensor? I run a full de cat system and have done for over four years, the smell has only just happened in the last two weeks. I have had the car in to solve a slight oil leak from the sump, is it possible something could have been distrupted during this? Does anyone know of a breather pipe in that area?
Your thoughts and knowledge are most welcome

The carbon cannister vent pipe runs along the length of the car and vents into a box at the rear, the pipes may have been pulled off when the sump leak was fixed
