Default Just had it dyno'd Crap results

Hi all,

I had the wagon on the dyne this morning to check my fuelling was ok (was spot on) after replacing the dead block with a 98' block. whilst we were at it we decided to give it a power run

It got a weedy 187 at the fly and 131.5 at the wheels with 214 lbf-ft this was at 4970 rpm, after this it just drops off on both torque and bhp

It's a wrx with a straight through system, sti intercooler and an up graded panel filter.the guy said to maybe check that the boost solenoid was clear and not stuck and to check that the waste gate isn't sticking open/closed.

I have noticed that I am getting only about 0.7/8 bar of boost, and when I floor it aim getting hesitation from the engine at about 6,200 rm. Getting nice power up to the limit is not possle

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Dan

I had a similar problem but was only getting .5-.6 bar and hesitation, turned out it was a boost leak, had a bolt missing on my TMIC which caused a 2cm gap where the flange was, new bolt and was all good again!

I have just put the car in test mode and it would appear that my boost solenoid is not clicking away? Could this be dead and causing the issue?

Well scrap the solenoid thing, works fine when the car is running, I do hear what sounds like a wooshing noise when coming onto boost but I have associated that with having a straight through system and just being the turbo spooking up, any ideas on how to test foe leaks?

check all your turbo hoses and clamps, assuming you are still running a tmic should make it easy.
also if you have an aftermarket dump valve check is not stuck open or leaking boost

the whooshing sounds like boost leaking somewhere, check your pipes

Hi folks,

i have had the intercooler off and have tightened up all of the pipework and i think it has made an improvement,

It has gone from .6/7 bar max up to just shy of 1.0 bar

Does this turbo behaviour look normal?

Click the pic to see the vid. If it asks for a password it's gixxer98
