Don't do it, there is a possibility of engine damage.

The car will be in limp mode and it will feel like it has hit a brickwall when the revs reach 2500. As for driving it in limp mode due to maf failure, I did for nearly two weeks until I could get a replacement this was on my first scoob, a my00 over 11yrs ago now

Went I bought my 2002 wrx the maf was disconnected as it was blown, I didn't even know as it drove fine without it for 2 or 3 weeks, when I did connect the maf it ran really lumpy on tickover and only up to 2500 rpm which I assume is limp mode, really depends how it's running without it, is it driving normally or is it in limp? if in limp I wouldn't drive it but if not then I think it's fine to drive, I did around 2000 miles in mine!

Disconnect it and drive off boost and it'll be just fine for the week you described.

agree with the majority here, theres nothing wrong with driving without the MAF connected. what will happen is your computer will resort to a default no input from the MAF map. longer term it is not good for your catalytic convertors but your probably running a decatted system anyway. you will not get peak performance and you should realistically drive it quietly.

the stories of a disconnected MAF blowing up an engine are most likely due to a custom map being incapable of operating without MAF input. If a MAF is malfunctioning that badly it will put the car in limp mode and limit things to 2500 rpm as some have said.

Since your MAF is buggered, have you considered trying cleaning it first, its a short term solution that wont last but it might just get youi through the week no problemo. If you do do this, use electrical contact cleaner, otherwise non is isoproply alcohol, NOTHING ELSE.

Thanks for the replys,
It is in limp mode, But i've left it on the drive and borrowed my dads car for a couple of days,
Got a new MAF in the post from Importcarparts, So should get it in the next few days,
I tried cleaning it with maplins contact cleaner but to no avail, I have a feeling it is a very old one, Definately not one of the "Green label ones"
Cheers, Paul.
