You will not get trade insurance at 21 I'm afraid fella,if you did then it would be a ridiculous price!

On the subject of trade insurance, what sort of money does it cost and how do you go about getting it?

I'm 40 and paying around £800 infact I'm due to renew this month so unsure as yet how much it will increase/decrease. Insurance broker is Peacock insurance and the policy is with Tradewise.

Without trying to rain on someones parade, it maybe 100% legit but its a common way to try to get around insuring a high performance car, should you need to claim you will require vat receipts etc.
Just wanna put that out there because i would've killed for a trade policy at 20

+1 above,it's all great and they are more than happy to take money off you until you crash and the first thing asked is can you supply some evidence of you being 'in the trade'.

that is no longer true. Most trade policies will now exclude performance cars on a list of cars as part of an appendix to your policy. Most trade policy will not cover highly modified cars on their standard policies. most trade policies will only allow over 25s, or over 30s to drive certain cars.

Yeah defo over 25's buddy I tried when I was younger but only way back then was to be named on a over 25's trade policy. Got my own now with tradewise and I pay £1600 for two people and as many personal cars and trade cars as I want. Would of been cheaper but had to add import, modified and high performance as we both drive scoobs.

Avoid Tradewise at all costs.......They will offer you a very cheap quote but will refrain from paying out should anything happen

I had a trade policy 12 years ago when I was 21, it cost about £1200 which was quite a lot but enabled me to insure a brand new Yamaha r1 that I could have never insured normally. But think a lot of insurers have stopped insuring under 25's.
I'm now 33 and have gone back to a trade policy forcthe last 3 years , am paying around £800 per year fully comp on any vehicle up to 8 grand, I've had my old type ra and my r1 on the policy and just have a slightly bigger excess for the high insurance group vehicles.
I need policy as selling a few cars on the side(only about 6 a year)
