0.4bar is way too low.

But we need to know your exact model to tell you the OEM boost target.

Generalising, the JDM Classics were anywhere between 0.79 and 1.03 bar IIRC (dependent on model/MY).

Think early UK Turbo 2000s were 0.69bar.

Sounds like you could be in 'limp home mode'

Thing is car is still fast :-s could it just be a dodgy boost gauge? I have a dual turbo timer and that has a boost reading on il watch that later and c what the reading is

Do you have a mate who's gauge is reading correctly on his car?

If so you could temp. swap your gauges around to rule in/out if your gauge is faulty...

MY97-00 JDM saloons (whether WRX or WRX STi) are all 280PS - and I think the boost target is 1.03bar. If not that, then it will be at least 0.9bar...

Ok mate il give that a try first but if it reads the same should i consider geting it remapped? Or would a boost leak effect it etc? As far as im aware theres no leaks and boost holds fine etc

Subjectively, does the car feel any slower (esp. in the mid-range to top end), since you noticed the gauge reading 0.4bar? You would have thought so, as it's 'lost' over half its boost target i.e. the w/g would be opening far too early at maximum load = significantly robbed power.

A remap (and the associated expense) is not required... Unless you have fitted some mods that would dictate you do so! As any boost leak would be 'wasting' the session.

I would simply take it to a well known Subaru tuner/specialist (not a main dealer) - pref one who has access to a rolling road.. They should hopefully get to the bottom of it.

Could be a number of things: loose/split boost hoses... shagged turbo or w/g actuator... blocked intercooler... blocked exhaust system (typically a blocked d/p due to a disintegrating cat)... etc.

But first try resetting the ECU to see if it (even temporarily) clears any limp home mode.

Then try checking all boost hoses/joints, etc.

Yeh its got fmic, and full ss system with dv and mishroom filter, so i was wanting to get her mapped anyway, ive only had the car 2weeks and its always been the same mate, i personally think its the gauge as just checked the turbo timer and that says 0.89 peak.. But il drive it home from work and see if it actually hits that on the turbo timer as that could of been done a while ago, ok i dont know of any around here as im new to all this scene :-s

Provided West Haddon is where you're from, then go and see Paul Blamire at Zen only 24 miles away;

http://www.zenperformance.co.uk/p/Home.html

You're going to need it mapped regardless and Paul is one of the few people I would trust to map mine, IF, I was ever to get it remapped.
